Neil Manimala grew up in Valrico, the son of a nurse and a respiratory therapist who worked opposite hospital shifts to raise their two boys. He graduated from Hillsborough County public schools, earned his degrees at USF, and became a board-certified urologist. Today he cares for patients across Brandon, Plant City, and Sun City Center, and he serves as the 123rd President of the Hillsborough County Medical Association. Neil became a doctor to keep people healthy. Then he watched broken politics undo that work. His patients miss appointments because of the impossible choice of paying for groceries or gas versus their medication or surgery. Families lose homes to floods that better planning would have prevented. Neighbors put off their own healthcare because they can barely afford childcare. Neil approaches the county the way he approaches medicine. He finds the cause, treats it, and follows up until it is fixed.
