Meet Dr. Neil Manimala

Dr. Neil Manimala knows that healing Hillsborough County starts with smart investments in health, housing, and infrastructure.

The son of immigrants, Neil was raised in Valrico, Florida, where his parents both worked in healthcare — his mother as a nurse, his father as a respiratory therapist. Like so many Hillsborough families, his parents worked opposite shifts to raise Neil and his younger brother, building a life grounded in service, sacrifice, and opportunity.

A proud graduate of Hillsborough County public schools, Neil stayed close to home, earning both his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of South Florida. Today, he serves as a board-certified urologist with Florida Urology Partners, where he cares for patients every day and sees firsthand how public policy impacts health and quality of life.

In addition to his medical practice, Neil serves on the Hillsborough County Health Care Advisory Board, the Health Council of West Central Florida, and is the president-elect of the Hillsborough County Medical Association. As a member of the American Planning Association, he understands that county land use decisions require not just technical expertise, but compassion, accountability, and foresight.

Now, Neil is running for County Commission to promote sustainable development, modernize transportation, strengthen public safety, and make local government more transparent and accountable. He believes that budgets aren’t just spreadsheets — they are moral documents that reflect who we serve, who we uplift, and who we leave behind.

Neil lives in Hillsborough County with his wife, Rachel, a nurse with roots at the Veterans Administration, and their rescue dog Benji. They are parishioners at Sacred Heart Catholic Church and are expecting their first child. As a soon-to-be father, Neil is running to ensure that every family in Hillsborough County, no matter their income, zip code, or background, has the opportunity to thrive.
